rose pogonia, Pogonia ophioglossoides

Plants now have three names; common name, scientific name, and symbol. The latter is intended to facilitate data searches. It is capital letters made up of the first two from the genus, and the first two from the species, without a space. I will leave you to figure this one out. Rose pogonia is a good chance to disabuse you of the notion that I know what I'm doing here. Early AD (After Digital) I went looking for this. In a state park, a staff person told me where to find them. I did, and happily snapped away. Later, I went looking for Arethusa (see 12/26/16 post). Repeat the event with a different staff person. I hate to tell you how long it was before I it dawned that I had the identifications switched. Oh poop! The flowers are about one inch high. Rose pogonia is a wide spread species of bogs and fens, occurring in AL, AR(T), CT, DE, FL(T), GA, IL(E), IN, KY(E), LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NH, NJ, NY(V), OH(T), OK, PA, RI, SC, TN(E), TX, VA, VT, WI, WV, MB, NB, NF, NS, ON, PE, QC, and SPM.
