climbing rose, Rosa setigera

All right, I forgot! I was going to post a rose on Valentine's Day, but didn't realize what day it was until I sent the rose pogonia. That being a ROSE pogonia was pure coincidence. So here is a wild rose. This native species likes open areas where it can spawl out or clamber over other shrubs. Its inch and a half flowers sometimes pale as they age. The inclusion of Colorado in the range is based on one I photographed along an interstate ramp south of Denver. It's not included in published Colorado flora. The range is AL, AR, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, MO, MS, NC, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WI, WV, and ON(S). Lenawee Co MI, 7/6/16
