obedient plant, Physostegia virginiana

This is a fun flower. If you push the flowers to one side or the other, they stay there. I''m not sure what to think of plants with larger showier flowers like this. Some that I see are half the size and in less dense clusters. These are about an inch long. They are popular in gardens, so the large flowered ones may be influenced by horticultural efforts to produce showier plants. They all grow on shores and floodplains, not too far from water. Found in AL, AR, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI(S), SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT(T), WI, WV, MB, NB, NS, ON, and QC.
