germander speedwell, Veronica chamaedrys

If a weed is somewhere it's not supposed to be, this one is a puzzle. Sometimes plants I invite to my garden bring along a date. I always hope the invited stay, and sometimes the dates do too. This one's been here now for several years, and I have no idea if Veronica is with the one she came with. But I kind of like her now. The flowers are about a quarter inch across. Native to the western half of Eurasia, and now weedy, particularly in lawns, in AK, CA, CT, ID, IA, IL, IN, MA, MD, ME, MI, MO, MT, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, AB, BC, NB, NF, NS, ON, PE, and QC. Lenawee Co MI, 5/18/16.
