harebell, Campanula rotundifolia

This wonderful little plant played a role in one of my wife's and my old ears conversations. I came back from an outing and said, "I found a new crabapple today".

Barb, "Different than the harebells we've seen before?"

Bob, "What about hairballs?"

The eyes are still good (all four of mine). But the ears? That's another question. Harebells are about 3/4 inch long. They are circumpolar, here growing in AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, ID, IL, IN, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NY(V), OH(E), OR, PA, RI, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY, all of Canada, GL, and SPM.
