Florida goldenaster, Chrysopsis floridana
Florida goldenaster only grows in the central peninsula of that state. This image is from Bok Tower Gardens, in the wild area south of the gardens. They can also be seen in the native plantings area in the gardens. That area has been greatly expanded since I was last there. I look forward to my next visit. I'm greedy and don't hesitate to take my flowers wherever I can find them, gardens or wild. This is an endangered species. Like tigers in zoos, it good to know they'll be around if the worst happens. It's also good to have a second opinion on the identification. Goldenasters in their various genera and species are a group I find very difficult. These flower heads are just under an inch across.
