Curtis' loosestrife, Lythrum curtisii
This is one extreme from the other. Curtis' cousin, purple loosestrife, is an alien we would like to be rid of. It's so plentiful it chokes out native plants in all but five states. Curtis' on the other hand only grows in two states, and is protected in both. This spot had been disturbed ground when I was there in 2013. Two years later it was returning to nature, and this was one of the plants that had moved in. Curtis' grows in open moist ground in FL(E) and GA(T). Everglades NP, MIami-Dade CO FL, 3/20/15.
