Douglas' meadowfoam, Limnanthes douglasii
It may seem strange to post this one just after a flower trip to Michigan's great outdoors. I can never pass Lansing without a stop at Beal Gardens at Michigan State University. I see many plants there that I will never be able to visit in their homes. Meadowfoam particularly caught my eye this time. The flowers are a little more than an inch across. It is grown in gardens, maybe partly because it is a little aggressive, and therefore easy. Also known as poached egg plant, which to me is a distasteful alternative. Growing in damp meadows in CA and OR. Beal Gardens, Michigan State University, 5/26/17.
