white water buttercup, Ranunculus longirostris

Back into the water! I had long hoped to find white water buttercups for a digital image. When they popped up yesterday, there was no question about going in after them. They're not particularly rare. I just hadn't come across them in the digital age. Fortunately, they were only thigh deep. When things get shoulder deep, it's really hard to get a good angle. These grow across the U. S. and Canada, except in the southeast. They are special concern in CT, threatened in PA, and endangered in TN. Watkins Lake State Park, Jackson Co MI, 6/4/17.
