hairy tick-trefoil, Desmodium ciliare

Can a flower catch your eye and avoid it all at once? It can with a lot of help. For some, that's the best way to fascinate and annoy us. This patch of tick-trefoil did catch my eye, but the less than quarter inch flowers were elusive. I felt the best approach was to capture the image of the patch, rather than just a closeup of another pea-family flower. I'm also sure this patch, right by an oft travelled path, has annoyed me with its little triangular burs. Yet another time spent picking burs before I went back in the house. These grow in AL, AR, CT, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, MO, MS, NC, NH(E), NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, WV, and ON. Kitty Todd Preserve, Lucas Co OH, 8/9/13.
