wild crabapple, Malus coronaria

What we really need here is a Star Trek replicator. Something that not only captures the appearance of things, but also the aroma. And then replicate it anytime we want to share the experience. To whatever degree these images capture the spirit of the blooms, the fail utterly when there is an aroma like this one. Imagine a nice hot, fresh from the oven, spicy apple pie. Nope! Even that doesn't quite do it. These small trees grow on banks and borders, and sometimes in woods and fields in AL, AR, DE, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, MI, MO, NC, NJ, NY(E), OH, PA, SC, TN, VA, WI, WV, WY, and ON.
