alpine forget-me-not, Eritrichum nanum

No, this is not a plea to my viewers! It is genuinely hard to forget these tufts of flowers once you've seen them up there above tree line. These quarter inch flowers grow in spreading mats up to about a foot across. The ground hugging habit helps protect them from the harsh alpine conditions. Alpine forget-me-not is an intermediate evolutionary form in the march toward heterosexual pollination. The are female plants, and bisexual plants, but no exclusively male plants. These occur in AK, CO, ID, MT, NM, OR, UT, WA, WY, YT, and in the European Alps. Mt. Evans National Park, Clear Creek Co CO, 6/18/13.
