wild plum, Prunus americana
This small tree is beautiful in so many ways; flower, fruit, and aroma. I'm sorry I can't bring you the last. But maybe I could! I should go into the incense stick business! Send me $5 plus shipping and you too can experience the delightful aroma! Here I was focused on the camera's inabilities, without considering wider possibilities. Or we can all just stop along the road in the spring, and enjoy the real thing. These plums are native west to the Rockies, and have spread farther. They're in every state except AK, CA, HI, NV, OR, and TX, and in NB, ON, QC, and SK. They are threatened in NH and VT. Lenawee Co MI, 5/7/11.
