wild columbine, Aquilegia canadensis

If yesterdays somewhat disorganized anemone was a little primative, columbines must be more advanced. Even if they are in the same family on an early branch of the evolutionary tree. I guess which turn you take doesn't matter as much as where you end up. So here's an offering to help celebrate where the columbines have ended up. Wild columbines grow on borders and in thin woods in AL, AR, CT, DE, FL(E), GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI, WV, MB, NB, ON, QC, and SK.
