sand leek, Allium rotundum
Sand leek is quite different than our native wild leek. It is often regarded as a subspecies of Allium scorodoprasum. This probably accounts for the limited information available. So far it is only reported from two states. Michigan and Iowa. In my experience, it can become very abundant in weedy situations, and would likely be elsewhere. It is not a tasty species of onion, and probably came here accidentally. Lenawee Co MI, 6/15/12.
