Skyblue or azure aster grows in open areas and oak woods. In my experience it likes ground a little off neutral Ph. The spot I go to see this is an exposed marl bed that must be pretty basic. It's a very pretty aster with flowers more blue than most. The specific name is for the Olentangy River in Ohio, where the type specimen was collected. There you go, Buckeye fans! The extra O seems to have been an accidental misspell. It grows in AL, AR , FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NE, NY, OH, OK, SD, TN, TX, WI, WV, and ON. Lenawee Co MI, 9/9/10.
