waxy meadow-rue, Thalictrum revolutum

Meadow-rue is in the buttercup family. That family evolved relatively early. It has put the time since to good use, and now includes amazingly diverse flower forms. These are male flowers, ready for a good breeze to spread their pollen. Individually, with greatly reduced tepals, the flowers aren't showy. But plants covered by hundreds or more of them are, in a word, amazing. Waxy meadow rue grows in AL, AR, AZ, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA(E), IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI(S), MN, MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI(X), SC, TN, TX, VA, WI(S), WV, MB, ON, and QC.
