starry campion, Silene stellata

Here's one for Anne, and it's a bit of a raggedy Anne. I've seen perfect images of perfect flowers that are amazing in their symmetry, and the beauty of the divided petals. But these narrow lobes are very weak. I've yet to see one that has not begun to surrender to the elements. It sure is fun to keep looking. Starry campion grows in damp shade in AL, AR, CT(S), DE, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI(T), MN, MO, MS, NC, NE, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI(X), SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI, and WV. Fayette Co KY, 7/15/15.
