red raspberry, Rubus strigosus

Yum! Raspberries are just about everyone's favorite. But not so much the flowers. I looked a lot of years to find one this attractive. They're mostly scraggly little things with smaller, irregular petals. Raspberries' art all goes into the fruit. The wild fruit isn't as large and juicy as some of the cultivars, but it's every bit as tasty. They grow here, and if you're one who combines it with Eurasian plants (R. idaeus), around the north temperate world. Here they are in AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, IA, ID, IL, IN, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, ND, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SD, TN, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY, across all of Canada, and on GL and SPM.
