wedgeleaf, Phyla cuneifolia

Wedgeleaf was an unexpected find on the eastern Colorado high plains. It's always fun to find a new plant you don't know about. This species is the showiest of the Phyla, even if it's flower heads are less than an inch across, and stay close to the ground. Maybe I enjoy finding new Phyla in part because you have to be determined to get right down there with them to fully appreciate them. Wedge leaf grows in damp or periodically wet spots in AZ, CA, CO, IN, IL, KS, LA, MO, NE, NM, OK, SD, TX, UT, and WY. Logan Co CO, 6/16/13.
