Continuing into the fen that Sunday, I came to a very nice common cinquefoil. It was growing on a slightly higher and dryer spot near the edge of the fen. I will confess that this image may be a little contrived. How could this interesting leaf not be part of the image of common cinquefoil? If I did help arrange this, it was just one of many manipulations that occur taking these closeups. Although most often it is the background that I change, getting rid of distracting debris. In any case I guess it worked. If you Google this species, and look at the images, this is now the first one that comes up. This species grows in a variety of drier places in AL, AR, CT, DE, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI, WV, NB, NF, NS, ON, PE, QC, and on SPM.
