Rocky Mountain columbine, Aquilegia saximontana
I wanted to see this one since I first heard about it in 1968. When I finally did, I screwed it up. It was in a spot where I had little choice of angle, lighting, background, or how close I could get. And I was in a hurry. Sad excuses after waiting 45 years. So here's a bad image where the flowers do all the work, and the photographer crapped out! Rocky Mountain columbine grows in alpine sites near the continental divide in central Colorado. Mt. Evans National Park, Clear Creek Co CO, 6/18/13.
