pretty draba, Draba streptocarpa

Here's one of the western drabas. They can be much showier than some of those small white ones in the east. They do much the same job, growing in barren places where they help improve or maintain the soil. But the western draba can have much more inviting habitats. Paul sent me an Aldo Leopold quote, "But he who searches for spring with his knees in the mud finds it, in abundance." You'll want to be on your knees in the west too, to you find these. But then you've just got to stand up and look around at the rest of nature's wonder. Pretty draba grows in alpine areas in the Rockies in CO, NM, and WY. Mt. Evans National Park, Clear Creek Co CO, 6/18/13.
