goat's-rue, Tephrosia virginiana

Goat's-rue is a common, wide spread and very pretty plant. It's one I've always kind of kept my eye open for. And still do since in all these years I've only seen it twice. It grows in sandy or rocky open areas and open oak woods, all of which I frequent. I guess with all the flowers out there, inevitably there's going to be one that often eludes me. I wonder how many others I've never seen? Just have to keep looking! Goat's-rue grows in AL, AR, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NE, NH(E), NJ, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI(S), SC, TN, TX, VA, WI, WV, and ON(E).
