hedge-nettle, Stachys pilosa

As we go along you'll get to see hedge-nettle several times. They are a bunch of plants that are a lot alike, yet different. Some botanists lump them together in various ways. Some split them up in various ways. I'm with the splitters just because it gives us more images to see. And they're all pretty, and not much like nettles. This may be the most wide spread and easily separated hedge nettle, growing in every state except AL, DE, FL, GA, HI, LA, MD, MS, NC, RI, TN, and TX, and in AB, BC, MB, NB, NT, ON, PE, QC, SK, and YT. Ramsey Co MN, 7/8/11.
