Alabama snow wreath, Neviusia alabamensis
Snow wreath is very close to being exclusively a garden shrub. It seems to be determined to die out in the wild. It's a very ancient species, with only a few widely scattered locations ever known. It rarely if ever sets seed in the wild. Its move to our gardens may yet save it. It's been found in woods in AL, AR(T), GA(T), MO(X), MS, and TN(T). It's no more common in Alabama or Mississippi, but they don't have state programs to identify endangered or threatened species. Beal Gardens, Michigan State University, 5/3/12.
