tall fringed bluebells, Mertensia ciliata

Tall fringed bluebells are in the borage family. There are a lot of blue flowers in that family. Wikipedia says they have blue buds that become pink as the flowers mature. The rest of us see it the other way around. Although I have seen one plant that got it their way. In any case it's a delightful process, with a beautiful result. Tall fringed bluebells grow in subalpine and lower alpine areas in AZ, CA, CO, ID, MT, NM, NV, OR, SD, UT, and WY. Summit Co CO, 6/17/13.
