Spreading chervil, Chaerophyllum procumbens

We've talked of having to get down on your belly on the lawn to really appreciate the weeds. Sometimes you have to do that out in the woods with the natives. This little plant won't be much over six inches as it sprawls on the ground. I fret about finding variety in images of its relatives, who look so much alike. Spreading chervil breaks the mold of the Queen-Anne's-lace bunch. No worry here that the umbels all look the same. This spring ephemeral grows in AL, AR, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, MI, MO, MS, NC, ND, NJ, NY(E), OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, NA, WI, WV, and ON. Lenawee Co MI, 5/4/13.
