heal-all, Prunella vulgaris
Heal-all is the absolute image of success. This little plant is native darn near everywhere. From the edge of the permafrost down through the semitropics, and around the world. You would think such success means it is very aggressive, but it's not. It pops up here and there, maybe even in your lawn, but never in numbers that would annoy. The plants are up to a foot tall, often shorter in more difficult habitats. The flowers are a little over a quarter inch, and may be solid blue or lighter shades, or even pink above. Heal-all, also called self-heal, grows in every state, in every province except NT and NU, and on SPM. Lenawee Co MI, 7/25/14.
