stiff goldenrod, Solidago rigida
Stiff goldenrod has the largest flower heads of the goldenrods at Ives. But they're still only about a quarter inch across. Together in a dense, flat-topped array, on top of a plant with larger paler leaves, they make this one of the most beautiful goldenrods. These grow in open, dry, often sandy sites. Stiff goldenrod is in AL, AR, CO, CT(E), GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD(X), MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NJ(E), NM, NY(T), OH, OK, PA(E), RI(X), SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, WI, WV, WY, AB, MB, ON, and SK.
