stiff goldenrod, Solidago rigida

Stiff goldenrod has the largest flower heads of the goldenrods at Ives. But they're still only about a quarter inch across. Together in a dense, flat-topped array, on top of a plant with larger paler leaves, they make this one of the most beautiful goldenrods. These grow in open, dry, often sandy sites.
