little hop clover, Trifolium dubium

Little hop clover makes me feel like I flunked St. Patrick's Day 101. Those things they sell in flower shops, and their wood sorrel kin are shamrocks, right? It turns out that this Irish native is the original lucky charm. This is the Leprechaun of clovers, with flower heads barely if at all a quarter inch across. It now well represents the Irish diaspora, and has been reported from every state except CO, NV, SD, and UT, and from BC, NB, NS, ON, PE, and QC, and many places around the world.
