harbinger-of-spring, Erigenia bulbosa

Harbinger-of-spring is a tiny plant, about two or three inches tall when blooming. The flowers are hardly a quarter inch across. These are now said to be blooming here. The next good day they deserve a visit. The new McCauley-Bastian Preserve near here has some, we will have to see what else it offers. Harbinger grows in woods in AL, AR, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MD, MI, MO, MS, NC, NY(E), OH, OK, PA(T), TN, VA, WI(E), WV, and ON. Ives Fen Preserve, Lenawee Co MI, 4/19/14.
