small yellow lady-slipper, Cypripedium parviflorum var. makasin

Anne, thanks for the mention of Swampwalker's Journal by David Carroll. I've ordered it. Maybe I can learn more about swampwalking. I was out looking for these at the edge of a swamp. Tripped. One leg in. Grabbed a branch to pull up. It broke. Two legs in, almost to my waist. But as always (so far), one hand and the camera were high and dry. Anyway, I found the flowers, including this not usual two-flowered plant. This smaller variety doesn't range quite as far north as the larger version, found in AL, AR, CT(S), GA(U), IL(E), IN(R), KS, KY(T), MA, MD, ME, MI, MO, NC, NH(E), NJ, NY(E), OH(E), OK, PA(E), RI(E), TN, VA, VT, WA(E), and WV. Onsted State Game Area, Lenawee Co MI, 5/26/18.
