Delaware's state flower is the peach blossom. Peaches began their journey to Delaware in northwest China, where Ice Age peach pits have been found, maybe no harder than they were when they ripened. With no native state wildflower, Delaware gives us an answer to the question of commercial motivation in naming state flowers. But they did pick a pretty one! Peaches and/or nectarines have been reported wild in every state except AK, CO, HI, MN, MT, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, SD, VT, WA, and WY, and from NS and ON. Cultivated, Lenawee Co MI, 4/19/17.
