Chinese peony, Paeonia lactiflora

Indiana's state flower is the peony. They haven't seen fit to pick a wildflower. Get with the spirit here, people! This is the only floral emblem your state needs? I know from my visits with the neighbors down there that there is a lot of Hoosier wildflower enthusiasm. Someone needs to get a movement going. No one needs to know you needed a push from Michigan. As a wildflower, peonies are pretty marginal. They have been reported from KY, NY, PA, and ON. My roadside specimen from MI has not been accepted as wild. Lenawee Co MI, 6/6/17.
