marsh violet, Viola cucullata

Violets are New Jersey's state flower. Like Illinois, they didn't pick a particular species. This would be a good one to pick. Every spring. Just gather a few and bring them in. Put them where you live the most, and enjoy them for a few days. Violets are one of the many joys of spring. Good choice, NJ. Marsh violets are common to woods in AL, AR, CT, DE, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, TN, VA, VT, WI, WV, LB, NB, NF, NS, ON, PE, QC, and SPM.
