North Dakota's state flower is a wild prairie rose. Normally this is just a wild rose. There are also prairie roses. But for North Dakota, it is a wild prairie rose. Maybe it's their prairie that's wild? Come to North Dakota and have a wild time on the prairie? I was once asked to spend a summer there working with the Nature Conservancy. Maybe I missed more than I realized. But not the roses. This one grows in CT, IA, IL, IN, KS, MA, MD(E), ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH(T), PA, SD, VA, VT, WI, WV, AB, MB, NB, NS, NT, ON, QC, and SK(T). Lenawee Co MI, 6/5/11.
