Bebb's willow, Salix bebbiana

Bebb's is a common shrub in the north. It is the most common diamond willow. Diamond willows are infected with a fungus that causes the branch wood to form a very striking diamond pattern. Dark diamonds alternate with normal light wood to form this natural design. This wood is for trim and for carving. Bebb's willow is a shrub or small tree, usually in damp ground, in AK, AZ, CO, CT, IA, ID, IL, IN, MA, MD(X), ME, MI, MO, MN, MT, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, SD, UT, VT, WA, WI, WY, and through Canada.
