Driving through the Apalachicola National Forest in July, I really didn't expect to see an azalea in bloom. I was delighted to see this one. Now it turns out to be proof of what was said in the Dangers of Botany item the other day. I do stop and go back to see what I just passed. And I'm not alone. Judging by all the trampled undergrowth, this late azalea had attracted a crowd, one or a few of us at a time. Swamp azaleas grow in AL, AR, CT, DE, FL, GA, LA, MA, MD, ME(E), MS, NC, NH(T), NJ, NY(V), PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, and WV. Wakulla Co FL, 7/8/18.
