birdfoot trefoil, Lotus corniculatus

These inch wide crowns have become a frequent decoration along our roads. If a plant blind person has a flat, will they take a moment to see the flowers? Will any of us? Can plant blindness be situational? Probably for some, not so much for others. I still remember my first glimpse of a plant I saw while changing a tire in a thunderstorm in the Poconos, with the baby in the backseat. So, the higher the stress, the better it is to take a moment to enjoy the little yellow decorations trying to lighten the load. And apparently, the more likely it is you will remember them. Crown vetch now grows in open areas in all states and provinces except FL, HI, LA, MS, NV, SC, NT, and NU, and on SPM. Lenawee Co MI, 5/28/11.
