Virginia dwarf dandelion, Krigia virginica

Dwarf dandelions are here to populate barren open areas of sand. They do it well. In those places their seeds are free to blow around. Even if they are only six inches tall, with quarter inch flowers, the wind can reach them. And somehow they're comfortable with questionable nutrition and moisture that quickly drains away. They grow in AL, AR, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA(E), IL, IN, KS, KY , LA, MA, MD, ME(X), MI, MO, MN, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH(T), OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI, WV, BC, and QC. Lenawee Co MI, 5/22/14.
