sprucefir fleabane, Erigeron eximius
Yet another of the frequent western fleabanes. If only they worked, the west would be completely flea free! This is one with larger flower heads, about an inch across. The Navajo used this species to treat a variety of ills, for protection while hunting or in battle, and for protection against witches. Sprucefir is one of the more easily recognized species, which may account for its being singled out for those uses. Sprucefir grows in AZ, CO, NM, TX, UT, and WY. Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Montrose Co CO, 6/20/18.
