alpine milkvetch, Astragalus alpinus

Alpine milkvetch is smaller than most of its close kin. It makes up for that by growing in sizable patches in alpine and subalpine areas. And by being a little aggresive about it. It will grow almost anywhere it gets a hold, including recently cleared land from fires or man, and it grows around the northern hemisphere. Here you can see it in AK, CO, ID, ME, MN, MT, NH, NM, NV, OR, SD, UT, VT, WA, WI, WY, in every province, and on GL. Summit Co CO, 6/19/13.
