Orange fringed was my Holy Grail of Michigan orchids for a very long time. I finally found it in Ohio. These fanciful flowers combine so many attractive features. The fringe. The color. They're orchids. They're rare. And they are another excuse to go into a bog. Clearly they're moth pollinated, with that long tube that a moth will want to exploit. These do grow in bogs and other damp extreme pH sites in AL, AR, CT(T), DE, FL(T), GA, IL(E), IN(E), KY, LA, MD(T), MI(T), MO, MS, NC, NH, NJ, NY(E), OH(T), OK, PA(T), RI(E), SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, WV, and ON.
