bird's-eye speedwell, Veronoca persica

It makes some sense to call these little flowers bird's-eyes, as they peer up at us from the grass. A lot more sense than naming a daisy an oxeye. This speedwell, often shortened to just bird's-eye, has flowers about 3/16 inch across. It was nice of it to show up while I was standing around waiting for seating at an Olive Garden. And it probably does grow in olive gardens. This Eurasian now grows just about everywhere. With us it is in every state and province except HI, ND, NT, NU, and YT, and it's on GL. Jackson Co MI, 3/17/12.
