lambstongue ragwort, Senecio integerrimus

What a mess! What fun! Here comes Senecio! This is one of the largest groups of flowering plants. It has been organized and reorganized, and will be again. The species are mostly distinct. But when you try to figure out how they're related, good luck! You could throw them all in a tumbler, shake them up, and dump them, and you might have the next version. Pros apologize for this by pleading a lack of morphological synapomorphies. And maybe we need to pay more attention to variations in roots? The rest of us just enjoy all those pretty yellow flowers. Lambstongue grows in CA, CO, IA, ID, KS, MN, MT, ND, NE, NM, NV, OR, SD, UT, WA, WY, AB, BC, MB, and SK. Summit Co CO, 6/17/18.
