blue heliotrope, Heliotropium amplexicaule

Also called clasping or summer heliotrope. But we will go with blue because of blue heliotrope leaf beetles and blue heliotrope flea beetles. If blue is good enough for the bugs, OK. This southern South American native has spread to many similar climates, including Australia. Down under, it is becoming a little aggressive, and those bugs are helping control it. Wish I was down under with it where it's summer, rather than here in minus 17. With us, this whatever you call it heliotrope has been reported from AL, CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MA, MS, NC, NJ, PA, SC, TN TX, and VA. Bibb CO GA, 7/7/18.
