Korean mint, Agastache rugosa
In the woods near yesterday's sun rays was a patch of this plant. An exciting end to a terrific morning outing. I suspected as soon as I saw this it was going to be a new record for Michigan. I didn't know that Korean mint had never been reported wild on the continent. Korean mint was not too far from a house with gardens, so it was either dumped as garden waste, or seeded there by some herbivore. Either way, a new record for North America. Grand Traverse Co MI, 9/10/12.
