phasey bean, Macroptilium lathyroides

We're getting closer! Closer to that classic pea flower, with projecting keel petals. Phasey tries, but just can't quite get it done. These flowers are certainly pretty enough, but the keel is just that twisty little bit at the bottom. Clearly, this arrangement gets the job done, because these are becoming an invasive problem, particularly in the Florida keys. Also called wild bushbean, they occur in FL, GA, LA, SC, and TX. Taylor Co FL, 7/8/18.
