fineleaf fumitory, Fumaria parviflora

Fumitories are herbaceous vines in the poppy family that get very creative with their flowers. Almost as if they set out to be fun and attractive for us. They are of course entomophilous. Aha! Another of those fun scientific words, this one used in place of saying they attract bugs. Fumarias are Old World plants, with about 60 species. Here, fineleaf with its little quarter-inch flowers grows in AZ, CA, FL, GA, OR, PA, and TX. Polk Co FL, 3/16/16.
